■梅林坂の梅 本丸から二の丸庭園に向かう途中にある梅の花園。 都内には湯島天神など梅の名所が他にもあるが、個人的にはここが好き。 本丸方面から緩やかに下ってくる曲線を描く坂道の両側に梅が植えられ、坂を下りきった所にこの写真の梅が咲く。 背後の石垣が写真に「〜らしさ」与えてくれるようだ。

■Bairinzaka(Plum Tree Slope) This is a slope planted with Plum trees which every Spring are covered over with a mantle of beautiful white or redo blossoms. It is said that its name derives fromthe fact that Lord Ota Dokan, the founder of the original Edo Castle, planted many Plum trees here in 1478.
