■大番所 大手門から入って本丸方向に歩いて行くと、同心番所、百人番所を見て、最後に現れるのがこの大番所だ。 中の門（今は門の痕跡が残るのみだが）のそばに位置してるこの番所には他の番所より位の高い同心や与力が控えていたという。 この番所を過ぎるといよいよ本丸だ。

■Obansho : Great Guardhouse A bansho was guardhouse, and obansho is one of the three guardhouse still remaining. It is believed to have played a crucial role, since it was the final chekpoint. It was strinctly guarded by samurai guardsmen of higher rank than at other guardhouses. On top of the slope, here used to be the entrance gate called the Chu-laku-mon to Honmaru(inner citadel)
